NFL 2013 Live Wallpaper Android App Review

nfl android app“What a deadly web we weave when we to deceive.”

“When you tell one lie, it leads to another.  Then you tell two lies to cover the other.  When you tell three lies, then…oh, brother…you’re in trouble up to your ears.”

These are the quotes and jingles from childhood that I remember when it comes to the prospect of telling un-truths.

Do I lie?  Sure, everyone does.  You tell lies because you’re a liar.  But, when you’re hoping to start a lucrative Android app business and you lie, then that can come back to really bite you in the ass.

Enter Cellfish Studios.  Their NFL 2012 Live Wallpaper app promises it to be “Free to download and comes with one complementary NFL themed live wallpaper. Pay to instantly upgrade to your favorite team.”  And that’s the truth.  You download the app for free and you get the NFL logo as your “complimentary NFL live themed wallpaper.”  But, when you want to download your team’s colors and themes it costs $2.49.

And here’s the kicker.  Instead of simply updating the app every season, Cellfish Studios just creates another app.  So, if your team changes logos and such, then you have to buy all over again.

We’re New England Patriot fans here and I was a little excited to download the team’s logo for my Android.  Instead, I got a weak ass app that never really delivered what it promised.

Features of the NFL 2013 Live Wallpaper Android App include:

*Free to download and comes with one complementary NFL themed live wallpaper (The NFL logo…weak!)
*Only $2.49 to upgrade to your favorite NFL team  (ONLY?)
*Multiple camera angles when viewing a team’s helmet (Oooh, don’t overwhelm us!)
*Made with official release software to ensure quality and performance (What does this mean?)
*Officially licensed release from the NFL (The NFL should be ashamed of itself!)
*All 32 teams have a live wallpaper available for in-app purchase (I would hope so!)

NFL 2013 Live Wallpaper has a current rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars on the Google Play review section as of the date of this publication.  629 people have been unfortunate enough to download and feel the need to review this Android app.

Final Analysis:

This is happening more and more with both iOS and Android apps; the promise of FREE but with underlying costs if you really want the app to do what you’re getting it to do!  We’re getting tired of it here.  This isn’t even an app that needs to be maintained by the developer so we feel the $2.49 price tag to get our teams logos are a little bit steep.  Needed to pay the NFL to get licensed?  Not my problem.  Fix it!  Bad app.  Not worth the money.
